As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Vocational Skills to join our amazing team at Hillingdon Manor School, part of Options Autism.
Job Purpose:
To provide a high-quality education service to pupils in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and practices, and the standards set by the Regulatory Body by complementing the teachers’ delivery of the School’s Curriculum framework and working cooperatively with teachers, pupils, and other support staff.
Responsibilities:
* Undertake activities with individuals, groups, or a class of pupils to facilitate their physical, emotional, and educational development within a safe environment usually under the supervision of a teacher.
* Carry out pre-determined educational activities and work programmes ensuring that specific guidelines are followed while promoting independent learning to support the pupils' understanding.
* Help pupils make progress in a range of classroom settings, ensuring all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
* Contribute to the preparation and planning of lessons including developing resources and opportunities for pupils to learn in school and out-of-school contexts in accordance with lesson plans and in response to pupil need.
* Prepare and deliver vocational lessons and specific interventions to pupils.
* Provide detailed verbal and written feedback on lesson content, pupil responses to learning activities, and pupil behaviour to teachers and students.
* Use behaviour management strategies, in line with the school’s policy and procedures, to contribute to a purposeful learning environment and encourage students to interact and work cooperatively with others.
Essential Qualifications:
* Qualifications relevant to the role.
* Experience of working in an SEN environment.
* Experience of working with pupils with Autism (highly desirable).
About Us:
At Hillingdon Manor, we provide specialist education for 185 pupils, aged between 3.5 and 19, located across two sites. Our Secondary School supports around 125 pupils. Our pupils are taught in smaller class sizes and all pupils work towards a variety of qualifications dependent on their needs and ability. This role will have responsibility for teaching pupils aged 11 - 14, but who work at a variety of different levels, so we welcome applications from teachers with Primary level SEN experience.
