Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Software Technician to join the Gill team in Lymington, Hampshire.
As a Manufacturing Software Technician, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, improving and troubleshooting the software aspects of manufacturing processes. These include device programming and test systems, and digitising shop floor management. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas of improvement and develop solutions. Your focus will be on optimizing production processes, reducing costs and ensuring compliance.
Responsibilities
* Design, document, and implement processes and systems to facilitate the efficient manufacture of new and existing products.
* Maintain and support current products and manufacturing processes.
* Troubleshoot electronics and software challenges in production.
* Develop and implement manufacturing processes and systems.
* Develop software tools used in the manufacturing process.
* Support the transfer to production of new products and implementation of product changes.
* Provide communication and training on new and modified processes.
* Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
* Keep abreast of relevant industry advances and champion their introduction.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory approvals, quality standards, and similar.
* Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance productivity.
Requirements
* Previous experience in a manufacturing or technical role is preferred but not essential.
* Strong problem-solving skills; able to diagnose and solve any issue within the domain of manufacturing engineering.
* Proficiency in technical problem-solving.
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) in production engineering, software, or computer science field.
* Familiarity with multiple programming languages, such as Python, C#, and C/C++, and SQL relational databases.
* Able to do front and back-end development of GUI based projects (using PySide6/PyQt6).
* Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively.
* Able to communicate complex technical details and ideas.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
* Willingness to work flexible hours.
Hours
37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday and must be able to commute to Lymington for work as no hybrid working is available for this role.
