Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant working within the Minor Injury Unit at Stratton Hospital.
This is a post requiring the successful candidate to carry out minor injury treatments such as dressings, plastering, general observations and triage with flexibility to work in the out-patients department as required.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a HCA within a hospital setting. Experience of working in an urgent care environment desirable. An ability to work under pressure in an emergency setting and a willingness to undertake further skills training is essential.
The MIU is open from, 7 days a week.
Visits to the MIU prior to applying are welcomed.
Main duties of the job
1. Support and monitor patients during infusions and transfusions under the direct supervision of a registered nurse / paramedic
2. Undertake dressings under the direction of a trained nurse / paramedic
3. Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
4. Assist other clinicians whilst patients undergo treatment/procedures
5. Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
6. Give accurate and appropriate information to patients within own competence
