Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join our team on Ward 20 Queens Hospital. Ward Receptionis cover will be required Monday- Friday between the hours of 8am and 4pm They work closely with a wide range of disciplines. The Role is varied and requires a flexible approach. Healthcare experience and knowledge is desirable with a range of administrative procedures including case note tracking. An ability and willingness to be involved in service improvement including data collection and active involvement in Quality Improvement Projects. The Successful candidate will also be required to support other colleagues with admin duties and support the development and adaptation of the role of the Ward Receptionist to mirror the demands of the Ward. The role as a Ward Receptionist is vital to the overall smooth running of the ward, you will be the first people our patients and visitors as well as staff will be greeted by. Main duties of the job The role of the Ward Receptionist within the ward is varied and fast paced, encompassing a variety of responsibilities to support the high standard of care given to patients. This includes but is not limited to: Using clinical software to manage patient information and location. Appropriately filing patient notes. Admitting/discharging patients using the Trust systems. Taking telephone calls. Engaging in communication with patients, relatives, visitors and staff alike. To be any to communicate in different ways ie written, verbal or via computers. Scanning documentation. Responsible for dealing with all queries, either via telephone or face to face promptly and efficiently to ensure that an accurate and quality information service is provided to the multidisciplinary team, patients and their relatives.Liaising with other areas of the hospital to help support patient care. Working knowledge and confidence of Systems such as Excel, Power Point, Word. Making appointments for patients. Non clinical care of patients ie. supporting them with post/phone calls/ordering taxis/complete feedback Manage post. Audits. Administration support for Sister/Nurse-in-Charge will be required. Order and maintain ward supplies as necessary and in accordance with Trust policies.
