Our client is a measurement specialist solving manufacturing challenges across aerospace, automotive, medical, energy, and precision engineering industries.
We're looking for an experienced, competent engineering professional who can adapt to various challenging technical scenarios and provide comprehensive solutions to customers. A proactive team player who is good in front of clients, whilst being technically competent. A background in mechanical or science is a must, and metrology experience is vital.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and deliver client metrology projects on time, to a high technical standard, and to the satisfaction of clients.
2. Underpin their position as a technically excellent metrology solutions provider through the delivery of equipment demonstrations and technical proposals.
3. Support the sale and implementation of metrology equipment and projects through pre and post-sales work.
4. Develop and deliver complex metrology solutions to our client base in medical, automotive, and aerospace applications.
5. Design and develop metrology fixtures, producing engineering drawings and manufacturing data. Test and produce robust, reproducible metrology programs for clients.
6. Own and run custom projects, developing solid delivery plans, managing customer expectations, and coordinating with service and operations teams for smooth delivery.
7. Proactively solve technical challenges that arise in projects without supervision and with urgency.
8. Work with the sales team to deliver on-site and in-house demonstrations of metrology systems and develop a solution based on the customer's requirements.
9. Coordinate with other Technical Delivery Team members to provide managerial cover for the Head of Technical Delivery when absent.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications
1. Bachelors / Masters in Mechanical Engineering or relevant science.
Essential
1. 5-10 years working as a metrologist or senior quality engineer.
2. High level metrology knowledge, including calibration uncertainty, Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning (GD&T), and Measurement Systems Analysis.
3. Programming complex metrology systems e.g. CMMs, vision systems.
4. Strong problem-solving skills to deal with the challenging technical demands of clients.
5. Project management knowledge.
6. Strong organization and communication skills.
7. Commercial awareness.
8. Mechanical design of metrology fixtures.
9. Proficient in Solidworks or similar CAD package.
10. Clean full driving license.
Desirable
1. Robotics or industrial automation experience.
2. Software and programming experience.
