The Role & What You Will Be Doing Medical Affairs professionals at Viatris serve as a reputable source for credible, unbiased, and scientifically accurate information about Viatris products and relevant disease areas. This team works collaboratively with various external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, regulatory authorities, and patients, ensuring information is shared transparently and ethically. Key responsibilities within Medical Affairs include strategic insight generation, stakeholder engagement, evidence dissemination, and fostering personal and professional growth. The Global Medical Strategy Director will work closely with and report to the Global Growth and Strategy Lead to support initiatives focused on portfolio expansion and new business opportunities. This role involves conducting market analyses and translating findings into actionable insights that align with Viatris’ strategic growth objectives. The Director will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure strategic initiatives are well-aligned with medical and competitive insights and support the Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and the Global Medical Strategy Director role will make an impact through the following responsibilities: Strategic Planning and Execution: Assist the Global Growth and Strategy Lead in developing and refining strategies for portfolio growth, including exploring new partnerships and acquisitions. Contribute to the communication of strategic priorities, supporting alignment across teams to foster a shared growth vision. Market & Medical Competitive Analysis: Provide medical analysis and insights to identify industry trends, market dynamics, and unmet needs within target therapeutic areas. Leverage data to guide decision-making, ensuring strategies are responsive to evolving market conditions. Strategic Support to Business Development: Collaborate with the Business Development team to identify potential portfolio expansion opportunities, focusing on strategic fit and market positioning. Contribute insights on potential acquisitions and assess their implications for Viatris’ portfolio and market presence. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Compliance, Data & Analytics, Digital, and Marketing teams to support seamless execution of strategic initiatives. Performance Measurement & Reporting: Support the tracking and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the progress and impact of strategic initiatives. Provide insights to the Global Growth and Strategy Lead and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making. Mentorship & Development: Offer mentorship to junior colleagues, encouraging growth within the Medical Affairs team. About Your Skills & Experience For this role, we’re looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills and experiences: Education: Advanced degree in a scientific field (e.g., MD, MPharm, MSc) Extensive experience in strategic planning, business development, or related roles, preferably in the pharmaceutical or life sciences sectors. Experience in strategy team of Business Consulting and Project Management preferred Strong analytical and strategic skills for translating data into growth strategies. Collaborative mindset with proven experience in cross-functional teamwork. Ability to effectively communicate insights and foster a supportive team environment.
