A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotland's NW Operations team as a Temporary Winter Patrol Driver.
The North West Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country. It also includes 1,501 bridges and structures, including the Kessock Bridge which carries the A9 north of Inverness and the A87 Skye Crossing.
The North West Unit covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling in the central belt.
The TWPD will work on a 4 on/4off rota, 10 hour shifts to ensure the road network remains safe for the public.
Role includes:
Responsibility for the health and safety of the public, colleagues and yourself.
Participating in standby and winter maintenance rota.
Winter maintenance duties which include fitting gritter body and blade, driving gritter and spread salt by hand if required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
There is a requirement to undertake training and to achieve competence in aspects of the job.
Knowledge of the requirement for Health and Safety rules and procedures.
Ability to work in sometimes arduous conditions.
Holding tickets for plant, traffic management, and Health and Safety an advantage.
Full UK driving license and an LGV Class C level is essential.
