About Us
In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. The new Procurement Act provides an ideal opportunity for transformation, driving forward our growing in-house Strategic Procurement Team as they work to make a strong, positive difference for the people and communities we serve. As the Head of Service I personally joined 5 months ago and felt at home within the first few weeks- the team are all really approachable, hard-working and supportive of one another, and more importantly all want to make a difference. I must also say that RBKC is a great place to work, with so many places to walk, run or visit during a lunch hour.
The Role
With scope to contribute procurement expertise to all of our departments this is an ideal step up for a procurement specialist looking for greater variety and challenge. As a tendering expert within the team, you’ll actively support the delivery of high value, complex procurements. While your technical input will be highly valued, we’ll also look to you to guide stakeholders through the governance process and offer high-quality commercial advice on the review and management of contracts. There will also be some involvement in writing and rolling out new training activities and other procurement improvement projects. Promoting strong co-ordination and technical consistency across your portfolio, you will also help to identify the cross-cutting and strategic procurement opportunities that will shape our future service. You will assist in the delivery and shaping of our teamwork plan as well as our new Procurement and Contract Management Strategy which we will commence in 2025. We have two roles- one will be predominantly working with services within the Environment and Neighbourhoods (E&N) Directorate whilst the other will work across Resources, Property and E&N.
About You
Most likely with a background in Public Sector, Charity or third-sector procurement, you will bring deep subject expertise in public sector tendering, including knowledge of the range of public procurement regulations. An excellent communicator, you’ll be capable of sharing your expertise with stakeholders at all levels, including non-procurement specialists. A strategic thinker, you’ll have the versatility to apply your skills in a new and fast-moving team that’s focused on the future. We are a really supportive and sociable team and you’d be given a very warm welcome.
In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
We are committed to promoting equality and respecting diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
We are a Disability Confident Employer – committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.
The Process
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea are working in partnership with Hammond Clarke on the recruitment of this role. As part of your application please include a supporting statement with your CV outlining your public sector experience in a Commercial and Procurement setting.
