To provide expert clinical leadership and management for the Oral Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective oncology care. The role involves working collaboratively with SACT unit, oncology multidisciplinary and pharmacy to release capacity by shifting treatments to alternative forms of provision.
The main duties are:
1. Clinical Leadership: Lead and manage the Oral SACT service, ensuring adherence to national and local guidelines and policies.
2. Work closely with the SACT units, oncology and pharmacy to release unit capacity by shifting treatments to alternative forms of provision.
3. Patient Care: Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, and delivery of oral systemic anti-cancer therapies.
4. Team Support: Offer clinical supervision, mentorship, and support to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals involved in the Oral SACT service.
5. Education and Training: Develop and deliver educational programs for staff, patients, and their families to improve understanding and management of oral systemic anti-cancer therapies.
6. Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes, including participation in audits, research, and service evaluation.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, particularly oncologists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals, to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.
8. Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and protocols related to oral systemic anti-cancer therapies.
