The Forensic Tasking Unit is responsible for the quality and prioritisation of requests to attend incidents, through collaborative working and the application of a decision making framework, to manage the associated demand. The purpose of the Forensic Tasking Officer role is to ensure that requests for attendance at incidents are proportionate and appropriate, thereby enabling the effective delivery of forensic services in support of the criminal justice system. The Forensic Tasking Officer will undertake and oversee an effective forensic request process which ensures that requests, received from Police Scotland, are subjected to an effective assessment, evaluation and prioritisation and are then subsequently submitted to the Search and Recovery Team or Capability Team Manager. The Forensic Tasking Officer will support the management of attendances within Forensic Services through collaborative monitoring of target dates in conjunction with Police Scotland, Operations Crime Managers and Service Delivery Team Managers within Forensic Services. The Forensic Tasking Officer will support all aspects of the request process as required including the update of Forensic Systems and any associated administration activity.
