The Night Electrical Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving electrical systems during the night shift. This role is critical in ensuring that electrical systems and equipment continue to function efficiently, minimizing downtime, and addressing any emergency issues promptly. Key Responsibilities System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electrical equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues, including malfunctions and failures in machinery, circuit boards, and electrical circuits. Emergency Response: Act as the primary point of contact for any electrical-related emergencies or urgent repairs during the night shift. Upgrades and Modifications: Implement electrical system upgrades, improvements, and modifications to enhance reliability and efficiency. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, ensuring that all electrical systems are operating in compliance with local and national codes. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and any modifications to electrical systems. Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering teams and operators to ensure smooth operations across shifts and address any cross-functional issues. Testing and Inspections: Conduct tests on electrical systems and equipment to ensure their reliability and performance standards are met. Preventative Maintenance: Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs to avoid unplanned downtime. Shift Handover: Communicate effectively with day-shift teams regarding any ongoing issues, completed tasks, or upcoming priorities. Qualifications Education and Experience: NVQ Level 3 in electrical installation (AM2) / maintenance Up to date BS7671 wiring regulations Inspection and Testing certification (C&G 2391) 3 years of experience working with electrical systems, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Previous experience working the night shift is preferred. Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and components. Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic tools. Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues quickly and effectively. Familiarity with electrical safety codes and regulations. Good communication skills and ability to work independently. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills. Physical Requirements: Ability to work night shifts (typically 10-12 hours). Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment and tools as needed. Ability to stand, walk, or bend for extended periods during troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
