This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced community learning disability nurse to join an innovative intensive support team in a senior leadership role. The postholder will be part of the leadership team for the Intensive Support Service, alongside the Service Lead and the Deputy Service Lead. The postholder will form an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of clinical psychology, learning disability nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and support workers. The team work with a small number of children and young people and their families in Manchester, Salford and Trafford who are identified on the local Dynamic Support Database as needing the most intensive support and being at high risk of moving to a residential setting or hospital.
The Intensive Support Team sits alongside the well-established Specialist Community Support Team which consists of community learning disability nurses, clinical psychology and speech therapists. The post-holder will be the most senior nurse in CAMHS Learning Disabilities and Autism teams and provide clinical and professional leadership to this team and at the forefront of key oversight of strategic developments.
Main duties of the job
Working in collaboration with respite services and other agencies, the post holder will lead on the co-production and implementation of person-centred plans and approaches with the aim of supporting children and young people to stay with their families in their local communities, improving their quality of life and reducing restrictions or restraints. The post holder will apply extensive knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support to work with young people, families and systems to reduce the risk of a move to a residential or hospital setting, and improve quality of life.
The post holder will have supervisory responsibilities for junior staff in the Intensive Support Service and in the Specialist Community Service for Learning Disabilities and Autism. The post-holder will also be involved in identifying strategic gaps and planning how to use resource flexibly to meet these gaps and will be involved in developing consultation and step-up and step-down procedures between the community and intensive learning disability services in CAMHS.
The post holder will have extensive experience in LD teams and have developed skills in assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation, including skills in functional analysis and PBS. The post holder will also have experience of supervision, training and consultation. The post holder will have the skills and experience to manage their own complex caseload and make autonomous decisions and support junior staff with complex cases.

Essential
* Eligible for registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council
* Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD)
* Positive Behaviour Support training
* Considerable experience of working with children with severe and complex disabilities including Autism and their families
* Knowledge and understanding of nursing process/models particularly behavioural analysis and intervention and their application in field of community learning disability work with children and families
* Experience of designing and developing PBS support plans with children with learning disabilities and their families/carers
* Experience of embedding PBS plans into wider multiagency network
* Considerable experience managing risk in children with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour and working with complex multiagency cases
* Experience of facilitating therapeutic groups
* Knowledge and experience of working within a Safeguarding Children framework
* Knowledge and implementation of paediatric health promotion
* Experience of liaison and consultation in relation to a wide range of other relevant agencies
* Experience of effective multiagency working
