Position: Outreach Tutor
Location: Various community and in-home settings
Hours: Flexible
Salary: Starting at £25 per hour
About Us: Every child is different, but one deserves the best start to life. TP Tutors work with local authorities, schools, alternative provisions, and multi-academy trusts to create bespoke education programmes. We can provide the right educators to span the whole course of a pupil’s learning journey, from tutors to learning support workers, mentors, and SEND specialists.
Role Overview: As an Outreach Tutor, you will work closely with students who require a tailored approach due to complex needs or challenging circumstances. You will provide flexible, high-quality, 1:1 or small-group tutoring sessions in community settings, students' homes, or occasionally online. This role is ideal for a compassionate, resilient, and creative educator who thrives on building trusting relationships and adapting teaching methods to meet each student's unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver personalized tutoring sessions aligned with each student’s learning goals, often supporting core subjects like English, math, and science.
* Adapt and differentiate lesson plans to engage students with SEN or emotional/behavioural challenges, including ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, anxiety, and other learning or developmental needs.
* Foster positive relationships that encourage students to engage in learning, manage emotions, and build confidence.
* Use creative and flexible approaches to overcome barriers to learning, drawing on trauma-informed and therapeutic techniques where possible.
* Collaborate with parents, caregivers, school staff, and other professionals to support each student’s progress and create a holistic learning environment.
* Maintain accurate records of each session, tracking attendance, progress, and any behavioural or academic challenges or achievements.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience: Previous experience working with SEN students or those who experience dysregulation. Experience in outreach, one-to-one tutoring, or alternative education settings is highly desirable.
* Qualifications: A teaching qualification or degree in education, psychology, or a related field is preferred. Additional training in SEN, trauma-informed practices, or behavioural management is a strong advantage.
* Skills: Excellent communication, patience, adaptability, and emotional resilience. Must be skilled in building rapport with young people, setting boundaries, and maintaining a calm, supportive environment.
* Commitment: A passion for helping students with complex needs achieve positive outcomes and a willingness to travel within the community to meet students in convenient, comfortable locations.
What We Offer:
* Opportunities for professional development in SEN, trauma-informed education, and therapeutic practices.
* A supportive and collaborative team environment with a focus on making a positive impact.
* Travel allowance and resources for delivering effective tutoring sessions.
How to Apply: If you are a compassionate educator who values inclusion and is excited about making a difference in the lives of young people, we’d love to hear from you! Please apply for this role and include any further questions you may have.
