Job Description
The Director/Senior Director (Corporate Leverage) will contribute to developing and building the Structured Lending business, and achieve targeted levels of profitability, return on equity and origination.
Key Responsibilities:
Origination
* Maintain an active network of relationships with SME investors, SME management teams, intermediaries and advisors (particularly those aligned to cashflow lending deals). Act as a key "go-to" point of contact for inbound enquiries and generate new opportunities through targeted outbound activity.
* Filter opportunities to determine their suitability, robustness and fit within our corporate leverage risk appetite.
Deal Execution
* Structure, negotiate and execute Corporate Leverage debt facilities to support the financing needs, acquisition and / or growth of UK SMEs owned by private shareholders or strategic investors (where not covered by the Shawbrook Financial Sponsor team). Analyse in detail the business and financial models / performance of prospective customers to build an in-depth understanding of their risk profile. Structure debt facilities to meet prospective customers' needs and also protect the Bank appropriately.
* Write or supervise the preparation of high-quality sightings and credit papers, which describe the business model, management team, financial performance, debt structure and key risks in thorough detail, and in a succinct and easily understandable manner. Ensure all material risks are identified, minimised and mitigated appropriately.
* Lead the end-to-end deal process including: advisor / management / investor engagement, due diligence scoping and review, financial modelling, credit papers, presentation to Credit, client negotiation and completion of legal documentation.
People Management
* Lead deal teams, including junior colleagues, on both their own transactions and assisting colleagues on their deals more broadly.
* Maintain senior level relationships with key stakeholders in other parts of the Shawbrook group relevant to any given transaction, e.g. Portfolio, Risk, Operations, Credit, Finance, etc.
* Serve as a role model within the team, demonstrating the highest standards of what we expect from our people and supporting the development of less experienced team members, including direct line management where appropriate.
Regulatory and Compliance
* To report all issues of regulatory concern to the Operations Director / Bank Legal & Compliance Director. To communicate and escalate potential issues/risks in a prompt and effective manner. To provide support in managing and building out the overall compliance and risk management framework of the Bank.
Qualifications
* Experience in senior corporate leverage cashflow debt transactions.
* Able to demonstrate experience in structuring and executing transactions and risk management.
* Some prior mentoring experience would be desirable.
* Able to demonstrate an established network of relationships with SME investors and intermediaries / advisors.
* Able to demonstrate strong analytical skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel, with ability to manage and handle complex issues. Experience with financial models and sound understanding of financial statements is essential.
* Able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of leveraged finance structures, including negotiation of legal documentation.
* Excellent client presentation and negotiation skills.
* Thorough comprehension of credit risk management, credit administration, loan production and servicing.
* Good commercial acumen and capability in strategic thinking, executive-level reporting and effective business planning.
