Job summary The Experts by Experience Observer project (EBEO) project is being established following the 2022 BBC Panorama programme that made allegations of service user abuse by staff of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust. The EBEO lead will be responsible for the delivery of the project, with the support of BSMHFT's participation and experience team. Personal, lived experience of using mental health services will be highly valued in the role. Main duties of the job To promote the participation and experience of service users, families and carers through the coordination of a new project - Experts by Experience Observers (EBEO). The aim of the EBEO project is utilise service user and carer participation and leadership in assessing ward culture in BSMHFT acute, steps to recovery, speciality and secure services, contributing to patient safety, reducing restrictive practice, and identifying any areas where there is the potential for service user abuse to occur. This is a complex project that will require high emotional and mental effort, supporting experts by experience to be able stay safe and well in potentially difficult and distressing situations.
