With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, look to invest over £10bn in transmission projects across our transmission network in central and southern Scotland by 2030, the Transmission Projects team will play key roles in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the transmission network that is required to support ambitions Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.

What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Project Manager, you will manage a portfolio of capital projects, ensuring that they are delivered safely, without adverse impact to the environment, to customer expectations, within budget, to a high-quality standard and within the required timescales.
Individual project portfolios will include a range of projects, these can include Customer connections, Asset replacement and New build reinforcements with Investment Projects averaging £10m per annum. Most projects are expected to take 2-5 years to complete.
Within this position you will be:
1. Managing transmission 33-400kV projects throughout their delivery phase to final closeout.
2. Being responsible for the delivery of outputs, incentive metrics and milestones in line with business targets. Effectively manage project risk and mitigate the impact of issues that may emerge.
3. Promoting a high level of service to internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring that stakeholders are consulted and informed at all stages on the project lifecycle.
4. Ensuring compliance with the SPEN Integrated management system and SPT Projects Project Quality Plan.
5. Taking ownership of the management and administration of contracts (primarily NEC, FIDIC and bespoke SPT Design and Construct forms).
6. Developing accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections on assigned projects, with full accountability for project, contractual and financial governance. Contribute to the out-performance of the price control period by identifying, promoting and implementing innovation, efficiencies and value engineering.
7. Managing the creation, management and monitoring of project programmes.
8. Collaborating with the construction team to ensure that construction sites are managed in a safe manner and that environmental risks are suitably mitigated. Access for continued maintenance and operational activities shall be maintained.
9. Promoting and implementing external and internal stakeholder engagement and community liaison for projects, including compliance with the SPEN Landowners Agreement and land code of conduct for works.
10. Being accountable for the delivery of a quality, documented and maintainable product to SPT Network Operations. Including facilitate communications between SPT Projects and SPT Network Operations, ensuring that all project reviews, witness testing and handover is satisfactorily completed.
11. Ensuring system data and final records for all assets are entered into the corporate systems in line with required policy and associated timescales.
12. Driving continual improvement by completing project and contract reviews, identifying lessons learned and sharing these with the wider business. Make proposals and introduce changes for best project management practice and behaviour across the wider project portfolio.
13. Providing support to and assist in the development of Project Managers.
What you’ll bring
You will be an experienced Project Manager with significant experience of managing major projects within Utilities (i.e. energy, water, gas, telecoms). You will have demonstrable experience of risk management and control, procurement procedures and processes, contract management and financial control and forecasting.
To be successful, as a minimum you will have:
1. A relevant engineering degree (preferred) or equivalent experience in project management.
2. Demonstrable full lifecycle Project Management experience within UK utilities.
3. Project management methodology experience or relevant qualification.
4. Understanding of and able to implement quality assurance processes.
5. Health, safety and environmental legislation applicable to UK construction projects particularly CDM.
6. Ability to devise solutions to complex problems and challenges.
7. Due to the nature of this position, it is essential that you hold a full UK Driving licence.
