We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a Series Script Editor to join us working on Hollyoaks.
As a senior member of the editorial team, you will manage a team of Script Editors and Assistant Script Editors, ensuring every episode of Hollyoaks meets the highest editorial standard. You will use your detailed knowledge of plot, dialogue, structure, mood and tone to ensure scripts meet the expectations of producer and consultants. You will work with the Script Editors to generate ideas and ensure that story arcs within blocks, as well as across all weeks, are as strong as possible. Excellent attention to detail is essential as you will be executing all producer and channel notes, whilst ensuring the scripts are of the highest editorial standard.
We are looking for someone who understands what makes amazing TV and has an instinct for stories that should be told in a continuing drama. You will need a deep understanding of the script and production process, and a solid understanding of script and story structure, dialogue and tone.
What you will be doing:
1. Ensure thorough knowledge of all scripts and character arcs.
2. Help run meetings to ensure each episode and each week is as strong as possible, generating ideas/solutions where necessary to achieve this.
3. Run weekly meetings and/or reads (to be determined by SSE) and liaise with Script and Story to ensure smooth continuity across weeks.
4. Help guide script editors in editorial decisions needed to enable the production schedule to work, whilst maintaining editorial strength and ambition of scripts.
5. Be first point of contact in supporting script editors.
6. Assist producers in delivering feedback to writers and script editors and identify opportunities for career progression or further training.
7. Take responsibility for management and execution of any last minute script and story changes across material already shooting across multiple blocks, to help maintain continuity and emotional through-lines of characters.
8. Read all amendments across blocks.
What we offer:
An annual salary of around £52,000.
