Pupil Support Assistant (Enhanced Support Base)
Craigentinny Primary School
Salary: £24,909 - £25,116 (pro rata for part time and sessional)
Hours: 26 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Working Days: Monday - Friday
Craigentinny Primary School is a non-denominational school serving the Craigentinny and Restalrig areas of North Edinburgh. The school has a current roll of around 320 children with two additional Enhanced Support classes.
We are looking to recruit a committed, enthusiastic Enhanced Support Pupil Support Assistant to contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality education at Craigentinny Primary Enhanced Support Base. The successful candidate will work with children who have a diagnosis of autism in classes staffed by a Teacher, Nursery Nurse, and a Pupil Support Assistant. We use a total communication approach (e.g., using limited speech, visuals, and Signalong) and the SCERTS framework to guide the pupils' learning. Previous experience in Special Education and/or these approaches is desirable.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. An unconditional offer of employment is subject to the outcome of these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
