Service Manager - Community Health and Wellbeing TeamLocation: Bideford, with travel around the areaSalary: £28,507 - £30,656 per annumHours: 24 per weekContract: 2 Year Fixed Term ContractDriving: Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle required (business mileage paid)Are you ready for exciting opportunity to shape a new project at the British Red Cross?Community Health and Wellbeing Workers (CHWW) are local people who care about the health of their community and those around them. As a Community Health and Wellbeing Service Manager you will lead the frontline team employed from the local community.The outreach work of the CHWW team is essential in addressing the rising inequities in health and social care and in identifying unmet need in the community. The CHWW performs a variety of duties with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve.These include:Educational : delivering targeted health promotion, helping residents understand medical advice, highlighting digital exclusion, linking them to support.Navigational : helping to use referring patients to the healthcare system to access appropriate local services, acting as right care ambassador.Support : through proactive relationships, building trust, advocacy and allyship, counselling and motivation via health coaching, as well as means of tackling social inclusion and loneliness.Research and Intelligence : providing information to the community on contextual safeguarding, asset mapping, gathering intelligence for needs assessments.CHWWs play a significant role in increasing health promotion, through a range of activities including outreach assessments, raising awareness, community education, signposting, informal counselling, and support.Their bridging role between health, social care, housing and voluntary sector services helps to remove barriers and improve access.
CHWWs are positive role models and provide advice and signposting to people living in their own communities, to enable them to make positive choices around health and wellbeing.We are looking for a dynamic manager to recruit, build and lead this special team that will be supporting two communities in Bideford.A day in the life of the Service Manager for the CHWW project will involve:Leading the CHWW frontline team, offering support to manage risks such as safeguarding concerns and professional boundaries.Being a regular face at GP surgeries and voluntary sector spaces, building close bonds with external partners.Ensuring services are developed and implemented within the framework of national guidelines and to national expectations but flexed to meet local needs.Ensuring the service is achieving its targets and that service standards are maintained.Proactively connecting with CHWW projects across the country to share best practice and learning.Supporting the Health Operations Manager and the Senior Business Development Manager to work towards the sustainability of a longer-term service.To be a successful Service Manager for the CHWW project, you'll need:Experience of managing staff, services and projects. With an awareness of risks such as professional boundaries and safeguardingExperience of developing, building and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholdersExcellent knowledge of the local area.Experience of working in a health or social care setting or voluntary organisation and delivering high quality services to people in need.Excellent leadership and people management skills.Flexibility to work the occasional evening and weekend if required, with time off in lieu.Organisational skills - planning, managing and monitoring own and others workload.IT literacy.
