CAN Geotechnical, part of the RSK Group is looking for a Workshop and yard operative to join their team in Chesterfield. This is a full-time permanent role.
Using specialist drilling and access equipment, CAN provides innovative solutions to challenging ground engineering projects within all aspects of the construction and civil engineering markets. This includes stabilisation of embankments, soil slopes & rock faces, construction of retaining walls and installation of rock anchors.
We have opportunity available for a Workshop and yard operative to join us at our Chesterfield depot. Basic hours are 8:00am until 4:30pm Monday to Friday (40 hours a week). Reporting to the Plant Manager, the main purpose of the role is to assist with the preparation and servicing of CAN plant. This will include cleaning, greasing, stock control, and there will also be training opportunities to service and repair a large selection of plant and equipment that is used within the drilling industry.
This role requires no previous experience, although it is preferred. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who is willing to learn and gain skills by working closely with other mechanical fitters.
The Role:
* Assist with the day-to-day servicing and repair of all CAN mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic plant as well as all other general plant and equipment.
* Work on our own bespoke drilling equipment as well as typical construction plant
* To clean and prepare plant and equipment.
* Occasional visits to maintain and repair CAN plant on our sites (UK wide)
* To keep all public areas, workshops, stores, offices, welfare facilities and yard area clean and tidy
Experience and skills required:
* A valid driving licence.
* Able to work as part of a team and alone using their own initiative.
* Flexible, keen to embrace new training opportunities, which may on occasion require staying away
Advantageous experiences and skills:
* Experience working with machinery such as mechanic, tool fitter, welder etc.
* Forklift, telehandler and excavator licence
* Knowledge of hydraulic systems, engines, electrics etc.
