Job responsibilities About the role Compass provides Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in education settings across Birmingham. We are recruiting trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) to deliver evidence-based, high-quality and responsive services to meet the mental health and emotional wellbeing needs of children, young people and families (CYPF). These are highly sought after roles and candidates thinking of applying will need to be available to commence in the role by 2nd January 2025. University Trainee EMHPs will undertake a year in supported study at Exeter University which will be delivered remotely. Trainee EMHPs must undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Practice in Education Settings, a degree Level 7 qualification. During the training year trainee EMHPS will work within the service delivering interventions to CYPF and education settings whilst also balancing university timetable and requirements. You will be trained to deliver short term low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) informed interventions for CYP aged 5 -19 years with anxiety, low mood, family and peer relationship difficulties, difficulty adjusting to change or managing emotions in educational settings. On successful completion of training, Trainee EMHPs will be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge and capabilities and work as a qualified EMHP.
