An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Newly Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive to join a dynamic and supportive Legal Services team within a Local Authority. This is a fantastic role for someone looking to develop a career in public law, particularly in childcare and family matters.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing and advising on all aspects of care proceedings and adoption matters, including international issues where applicable
2. Handling Deprivation of Liberty (DOL) and Secure Accommodation proceedings
3. Drafting legal documents such as applications, threshold statements, case summaries, and orders
4. Dealing with Section 7 and Section 37 reports
5. Representing the authority in court and undertaking advocacy as required
About You:
1. Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a practising certificate in England & Wales
2. Up to 3 years’ post-qualification experience in your area of practice
3. Solid understanding of children’s social care law and associated public law frameworks
4. Strong drafting and analytical skills, with attention to detail
5. Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
6. Ability to manage complex caseloads efficiently
7. Committed to ongoing professional development
8. Advocacy experience is desirable but not essential
