We are seeking a qualified Applied Psychologist with a doctoral qualification in clinical, counselling, or health psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). You must have experience working in adult NHS mental health teams, especially in acute mental health crisis settings. Strong skills in psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide consultation, training, and supervision.

Main duties of the job
As an Applied Psychologist in the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team, you will conduct specialist psychological assessments and deliver tailored interventions to individuals in acute mental health crises, including those with personality disorders, complex PTSD, psychosis, and dual diagnoses. Utilizing a range of therapies such as CBT, DBT, CAT, ACT, CFT, and EMDR, you will directly impact patients' mental health and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
* Assessments & Therapy: Deliver evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to individual needs during crises.
* Consultation & Supervision: Provide psychological consultation, training, and supervision to the multidisciplinary team, promoting best practices.
* Collaborative Working: Work closely with CRHT leadership and the Acute Care Psychology team, collaborating with psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to provide holistic care.
* Staff Development: Support staff development through training, supervision, and creating a learning environment.
* Research Collaboration: Partner with the University of Southampton to support training, research, and the next generation of psychologists.

Qualifications
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical/counselling/health psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* HCPC Registration
Experience
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
* Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, complex PTSD, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities, psychosis etc).
* High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
* Skills in providing psychological consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
* Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings.
* Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
* Demonstrate an understanding of, and a commitment to the principles of recovery, choice and personalisation.
