As a Mechanical Technician you will also be responsible for responding to, coordinating, and resolving breakdown situations, and you will have the responsibility for carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance to mechanical plant. The Mechanical Technician Whilst carrying out your duties you will ensure a good standard of health & safety is adopted. Health & Safety Responsibilities of the Mechanical Technician You will be responsible for reading, understanding, and implementing control measures in line with risk assessments, method statements and department procedures. Experience of assessing risk and able to carry out Point of work risk assessments, identify any hazards and implement sufficient control measures to create a safe environment would be advantageous. Knowledge and experience of implementing Isolation and Immobilisation is essential. Proactively demonstrating a good attitude towards Health, Safety and Environmental matters specific to the role is essential. Must have knowledge and experience of working under permit systems and having proven competence of how permit systems operate. Ensure business health and safety instructions are followed e.g., Working at height, Hot work, Confined spaces etc. Requirements of the Mechanical Technician Essential Requirements of the Mechanical Technician Recognised Mechanical apprenticeship (HNC level or equivalent) Mechanical experience of heavy manufacturing industry Experience in use of mechanical equipment, specialist tools, and lifting equipment. Fault finding experience on pneumatic and hydraulic systems Mechanical maintenance of handling equipment, pumps and pipework systems Experience in equipment / spares strip down and rebuild – bench fitting / refurbishment work Basic hydraulic, welding/fabrication and pipefitting skills Experience of adhering to SWP’s, risk assessments, procedures and permit systems Experience of adhering to SWP’s, risk assessments, procedures and permit systems Desirable Requirements of the Mechanical Technician Knowledge of working with PPM systems and carrying out preventative maintenance Good level of problem-solving awareness Understanding of reporting of PPM activities and breakdowns Demonstrate good housekeeping awareness and standards Self-starting driven individual capable of leading a small team Ability to work with cross functional groups The Working Pattern of the Mechanical Technician The working pattern for this role is shift based, rotating, days, afternoons and nights,
