NOV Flexibles, UK is a turnkey manufacturing facility specialising in welding inlay, heat treatment, and precision machining. You will support the welding team, by producing all required welding technical documents, creating, and developing processes, procedures and techniques ensuring Flexibles will remain at the forefront of welding technology.
NOV are welcoming candidates with either IWT/EWT or IWS/WES qualifications. Alternatively, candidates with ample welding experience at the technologist level and a STEM-based degree, an EQF Level 5 engineering qualification, or the technical requirements for TWI’s Welding Engineering Diploma (Technologist level). NOV will fully sponsor the required qualifications through a three-year Welding Technologist Trainee Program.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Review of welding requirements at estimate stage regarding allocation/suitability of pre-qualified weld procedures that are compliant with client specifications, statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Review of Work Orders and allocation of appropriate weld procedures.
* Qualification of weld procedures in accordance with ASME IX, EN ISO 15614-1 and any extra client’s requirements.
* Liaise with certifying authority and test house regarding mechanical / corrosion testing of weld procedures.
* Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures.
* Development and review of welder qualifications in accordance with appropriate standards.
* Assist in producing all welding related technical documents.
* Identify and participate in welding process improvement initiatives.
* Promote and adhere to health, safety and environmental policies and procedures without exception.
* Ensure proper workflow through the department in line with planning / scheduling requirements and identify any potential efficiencies.
* Monitor and report Quality Assurance and Quality Control aspects of required work scope package(s).
* Make recommendations for corrective actions, continually identifying areas of improvement.
* Work closely with departmental managers, manufacturing staff and suppliers to ensure quality, aiming to minimise the costs of reworking or waste and maximise customer satisfaction with our products.
* Support, continuously improve and communicate welding systems, processes, and policies.
* Be fully aware of personal workload, prioritise and organise to ensure deadlines are achieved.
* Ensure a high standard of professionalism is maintained and that customer care is foremost.
* Demonstrate a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department.
* Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager.
* Travel when required as dictated by business needs.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* Comprehensive expertise in analysing, detailing, and explaining the principles of welding and cutting processes and their applications, whether performed manually or through mechanized methods.
* Extensive expertise in analysing, detailing, and explaining materials processing, their applications, and behaviour during welding and cutting, supported by critical assessment skills.
* In-depth expertise in analysing, detailing, and explaining the theory and principles related to the design and construction aspects of welding technology, supported by critical assessment capabilities.
