Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will be working in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the system engineer for customer projects, you will handle all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a rail environment.
Typical Deliverables:
* Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
* May lead in creating new product or service ideas and planning new designs.
* Manage ideas from initial design to production and installation.
* Develop detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
* Use mathematical and scientific skills to develop practical solutions.
* Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
* Calculate accurate cost analysis forecasts.
* Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
* Ensure quality-control testing and oversee construction, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related areas.
* Organize testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
* Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
* Develop personal engineering skills continuously.
* Solve complex problems with innovative perspectives.
* Work independently with minimal guidance.
* Lead projects or project phases; be accountable for ongoing activities.
* Mentor less experienced colleagues.
* Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements:
* Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
* Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
* Proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel, etc.
* Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulations.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficient in AutoCAD/MicroStation and other CAD software.
* Ability to collaborate effectively.
* Customer-focused with stakeholder management skills.
* Problem-solving passion and solutions-oriented mindset.
* Strong analytical and visualization skills.
