We are working in close partnership with a special needs school catering to pupils from primary through to secondary age with SEMH needs. The school provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where every student is valued, encouraged, and supported to thrive. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in building confidence, fostering independence, and helping pupils develop both academically and emotionally.
The Role: Learning Support Assistant
This is a full-time, long-term Learning Support Assistant position, working Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The role involves working 1:1 and in small groups, ensuring students feel safe, confident, and supported in their learning. In addition, the position includes community outreach work, so a full UK driving licence and access to your own car are essential.
Key Responsibilities for the Learning Support Assistant:
* Providing tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
* Helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and self-esteem
* Assisting with classroom activities and supporting engagement in learning
* Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional well-being
* Taking part in community outreach work, helping students develop life skills beyond the classroom
Requirements for the Learning Support Assistant:
* Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role within an educational or SEMH setting
* A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential for community outreach)
* A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to working with young people
* Experience working with complex needs, either in schools, residential children's homes, youth centres, or similar settings
* A strong commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable young people
