Our client, an established privately owned biotech company that manufactures high purity biopharmaceutical products, currently has an opportunity for a Senior Process Development Scientist to join their team. The role will be responsible for synthesising a range of peptides and peptide conjugates to support the polyclonal antibody programme. The role will also co-ordinate the delivery of a variety of polyclonal antibody projects through process development and technical transfer into the GMP production facility.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead the synthesis and purification activities to produce high quality peptide products.
2. Co-ordinate process development of polyclonal antibody projects (and project re-makes) to enable smooth transition into GMP production.
3. Provide a high level of specialist technical knowledge and hands-on training.
4. Prepare project specific development documentation to a high standard e.g. SOPs, development protocols and associated reports, batch records.
5. Adhere to company Quality and Health and Safety Policies.
Skills/Experience Required:
Essential:
1. Degree in relevant scientific discipline.
2. Extensive hands-on bench experience in peptide synthesis, purification, and analysis.
3. Extensive experience in downstream processing and scale up, to include: column chromatography, Tangential Flow Filtration.
4. Experience in protein analytical methods i.e. SDS-PAGE, protein assays, UV assays, HPLC.
5. Competent in word processing, spreadsheet, and database entry skills.
6. Experience in writing technical documents, e.g. development reports, batch records, SOPs.
Desirable:
1. Use of PurePep Chorus Peptide Synthesiser.
2. Experience in bioconjugation of peptide.
3. Use of AKTA (or similar) system in protein purification and scale-up.
4. Experience in technology transfer of products/processes.
5. Knowledge of ELISA methodology for protein analysis.
