In the context of emerging integrated care systems, this is a unique opportunity to shape a new approach, with public health at the forefront of system leadership. Along with your fellow Consultants in Public Health, you will build a collaborative approach, maximising public health capacity and expertise across the Integrated Care System (ICS) footprint.
The Alliance is an integrated team of Consultants in Public Health, providing public health capacity and expertise across the ICS.
You will play a key role providing strategic leadership across organisational boundaries to maximise the impact of systems-based approaches, working with partners and communities to improve public health outcomes.
The Alliance will be underpinned by a formal accountability structure, governed through a workforce sharing agreement between partners.Thispost will be employed by Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB andhosted byStaffordshire County Council. This postwill have a portfolio which includes children and young people’s public healthas well as other responsibilities, to bedeterminedfollowing successful appointment.

The Alliance will be guided by a steering group made up of the following:
• Chief Medical Officer: Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board (ICB)
• Director of Public Health: Staffordshire County Council
• Deputy Director Strategy & Transformation: University Hospital North Midlands
The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for planning functions; managing the NHS budget and arranging the provision of health services in the geographical area.
Location Home based/hybrid working (most of posts). Travel on occasions to a Hub location with at least 1 days notice and face to face attendance may be required.
New starters are expected to collect IT equipment, from offices in Stoke-on-Trent, and if based at home are required to have appropriate desk/chair/ relevant equipment in compliance with DSE regulations
Posts at Band 8c and above, will take part in the On-call rota, flexible over 7 days, supporting the System Control Centre, with full training provided.
Unconscious Bias/Invisible Disability Training and Equality Induction are mandatory.

As a Consultant in Public Health in Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Public Health Consultant Alliance (the ‘Alliance’) you will have the chance to work across the local system to improve the lives our local population.
The post holder will provide public health leadership, advice, and action to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the local population through work with communities and partners.
Due to the Alliance approach, a high level of tact, diplomacy and public health leadership skill is required, including the ability work across different organisations, with local politicians and senior management. The successful candidate(s) will need to challenge and advocate for effective working and on specific issues to achieve public health outcomes and objectives
Could any interested candidates please state if they have a preference for a specific post over another (e.g. ICB versus local authority) We will however, need to appoint according to business need primarily but we will do our best to accommodate preferences.
There will be a flexibility to work across different organisations in the future.
