The Role
An exciting and dynamic opportunity has arisen within Tameside, offering the chance to work in our new and progressive adult social care mental health team alongside our colleagues in the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) as a Social Worker / AMHP. Join us in delivering high-quality social care to individuals with mental health conditions, across a wide spectrum of presenting needs. In this vital role, you will support the council's responsibilities under the Care Act, including conducting assessments, managing funding applications, completing COPDOLS, addressing 21A challenges, and fulfilling other statutory duties. You will also play a key part in supporting the transition of young people turning 18 from children’s services to adult mental health support.

You will be provided with regular clinical and management supervision, as well as a tailored personal development and training plan to ensure continuous skill enhancement. As part of the role, there is an expectation that you will either work towards your Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification or, if you are already qualified, participate in the AMHP rota (usually 2-4 duties per month), with an attractive allowance for this added responsibility currently being reviewed.
About You
As a Mental Health Social Worker, you will be responsible for the coordination, commissioning, and delivery of care packages, placements and social support for service users within our mental health team.
Key Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with impressive experience in adult social care and mental health practice.
Current driving licence, or the ability to be a supported driver with access to a vehicle.
