PURPOSE OF ROLE:
As a UX Design Lead, reporting to the UX Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and guiding a team of UX Designers while driving design excellence. You will create inspiring and actionable designs to enhance our customers' experiences and champion user-driven decisions.
You will manage a diverse team of Senior, Midweight, Junior, Apprentice and Intern Designers across multiple squads, ensuring their professional growth and helping them deliver high-quality, user-centered designs. At the same time, you will actively contribute to the design process by creating and refining experiences that are simple, intuitive, and high-performing. You will also collaborate closely with Product Managers and UX Managers to plan and execute UX roadmaps.
You will work in a team alongside other UX professionals, driving the user-centric product transformation of a traditionally conservative financial services business. This is an exciting role that will have a real impact in an industry ripe for better design thinking and a stronger user-centered focus.
You will be responsible for uncovering opportunities to further improve our understanding of both current and prospective users to create simple, intuitive but high-performance user experiences and designs.
Day to day, you’ll be working alongside UX Designers, UX Copywriters, UX Researchers, Data Analysts, Product Managers, Developers, Testers, Customer Service Advisers, and stakeholders across the business.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* You will lead a team of UX designers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to help them deliver high-quality designs.
* Work closely with Product Managers and UX Managers to make sure the roadmaps are feasible from a UXD Point of view.
* Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality work, supporting the squad in maintaining an agile workflow.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UX Writers, UX Researchers, product managers, product analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders, to define and understand user requirements and business goals.
* Work closely with the Lead UX Researcher, making sure UX Design and UX Researcher are partners along the way.
* Support UX Researchers with usability testing, and other UX activities to gather insights and inform design decisions.
* Create wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups to communicate design concepts and interactions effectively.
* Design and iterate on user interfaces that are visually appealing, functional, and usable across different devices and platforms
* Work closely with our UXOps team to develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries to ensure consistency and coherence in our products.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the user experience of our products.
* Champion user-centric design principles throughout the organisation and advocate for the needs and preferences of our users.
* Ensure accessibility is embedded in the design process.
* Lead and facilitate design workshops with diverse audiences, confidently presenting design concepts, guiding discussions, and driving alignment.
* Effectively adapt your approach to different stakeholders, ensuring collaboration, actionable outcomes, and user-centered decision-making.
MUST HAVES:
* Proven experience as a Lead or Senior UX designer ready to make the next step, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design work and thought process.
* Confidence speaking with stakeholders and presenting ideas.
* Experience in leading and mentoring a team of UX designers, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive design culture.
* Proficiency in Figma & FigJam (or the ability to learn it very fast)
* Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex problems and create elegant solutions.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to diverse audiences.
* Experience with responsive web design, mobile app design, and/or other digital platforms.
* Passion for staying updated with the latest design trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
