We are now seeking to recruit a Senior Naval Architect who will join the Marine Systems Design Team within the Technical Asset Management department. Marine Systems Design team is accountable for any engineering required to vessel or Launch And Recovery Systems (LARS). This Team provides engineering support related to our Armada vessel and USV’s and is responsible for engineering sign off on our lifting gear This position requires a minimum of 8 years’ professional experience, the candidate will have worked in a fleet support and engineering role, ideally with ship yard experience. The candidate will be an accomplished practical engineer who has a good understanding of both steel and aluminium fabrications/structures, class regulations, weight management and stability. Experience designing and using heavy lift equipment at sea will be beneficial. The right candidate will need to be an enthusiastic team player, already committed to behaving in an ethical manner, championing fairness, equality and always demonstrating sincere safety leadership. What you will do: Naval Architecture and mechanical design; Generation of fabrication drawings and welding schedules; Interface management; Collation of engineering scopes of work in support of onsite activities; Assessment of third party design information; Management of engineering and naval architecture subcontractors Structural design including FEA where appropriate; Production drawings and bill of materials development; Interface with and support suppliers and fabricators both in house and externally. Who you are: Expert user of Solidworks or similar 3D design package; Ship design/systems and mobilisations experience; Experience in designing and building marine systems; Structural design calculations and simple FEA studies; Solid knowledge in managing weights, performing stability calculation, performance prediction, structural assessment; Knowledge of welding procedures for ship steel; Management of own time and capacity to deliver to tight deadlines, following strict project plans; High attention to detail; Good verbal presentation skills; Experience leading and/or coaching less experienced team members. Desirable: Ship marine systems, propulsion systems, navigation systems, offshore handling equipment, cranes, launch and recovery systems; Experience with Confluence and Jira; Good verbal presentation skills; Advanced knowledge and experience in FEA. Salary for this position: Up to £60,000 per annum Salary : The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades.
