Welfare Rights Assistant (Full-time, Permanent)
Grade: 6
Location: Welfare Rights Service, Wilson Centre, Alfred Gelder Street, Hull. HU1 2AG
The Welfare Rights Service provides independent benefit advice, casework & representation service to both internal and external customers.
Your role will be to contribute towards a comprehensive local authority Welfare Rights Service. This will include encouraging the take-up of benefits, the provision of confidential advice on potential entitlement, and assistance with challenging decisions at the various stages available.
You must:
1. have a good knowledge of the social security benefits system
2. have experience of the claims and appeals process
3. have experience in the field of advice giving
4. have well developed advocacy skills
5. be committed to the promotion of social justice through the provision of good quality advice to the community
