We have ambitious plans for the next five years with a new 5-year Corporate Plan full of exciting changes, which is supporting our vision of a fair democracy fit for the future. That means growing as an organisation, with more colleagues joining us over the next couple of years.
We are now recruiting four roles within the Electoral Administration and Regulation (EAR) Directorate.
Starting salary band:
* Senior Investigator: D2 grade: £55,403-£58,173 per annum depending on skills, experience and qualification.
* Investigator: C grade: £40,031-£42,033 per annum depending on skills, experience and qualification.
* Regulatory Case Worker: B grade: £31,549-£33,126 per annum depending on skills, experience and qualification.
Staff with the London Office as their work location will attract a London weighting allowance of £3,217 on top of their base salary.
Full time & Permanent: The roles work on a Hybrid basis which requires a minimum of 2 days office attendance (40%).
Location: London, Cardiff, Edinburgh or Belfast office locations or homebased. Regular travel to London will be required.
The Roles:
The four roles are part of the Regulatory Support and Enforcement functions. They will play a pivotal role in the work of the Commission, ensuring a fair and evidence-based regulation.
The Enforcement Team is managed by the Enforcement Manager and plays a pivotal role in conducting enquiries, assessments, and investigations into potential offences under the political finance regime.
The Regulatory Case Workers will form the Commission’s new Information of Concern Team reporting into the Regulatory Action Panel Manager. You will have the opportunity to shape the structure and success of these new roles.

The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. We work to promote public confidence in the democratic process and to ensure its integrity.
Pay Progression:
The Commission is about to launch a new Pay Structure in July 2025 which introduces performance-based pay progression depending on performance. Eligibility for the performance-based pay progression in April of the following year is dependent on having completed the required six months service at the progression rating date (31 January). The new structure allows the potential for pay progression on top of any inflationary increase for staff. The salary ranges provided in the individual job descriptions show the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that it is our default position is to appoint into the lower zone of the band unless exceptional circumstances.
