An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maternity Matron Post within the Family Care Group, working as a Matron in the acute inpatient areas. There are three posts available; a permanent, full time post based at the York site and a permanent, full time post based at the Scarborough site. The third post is a fixed term which offers the opportunity to work across site.
This post will have the opportunity to directly influence and improve the care of patients on our journey to excellence.
The Matron role is to provide professional and clinical leadership for all the maternity staff, ensuring the delivery of patient focused high quality standards of care are delivered to ensure patient safety and a positive patient experience, supporting the delivery of national and local strategic and operational service objectives.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate effective professional compassionate leadership, alongside being a competent accountable clinical practitioner who has excellent clinical and leadership skills, and be a role model for the maternity workforce for implementing and sustaining change and patient centred care.
You will need to be flexible, enthusiastic, and passionate about the delivery of innovative safe patient centred care. To carry out this role you must have proven management and leadership experience within a maternity setting. You may be expected to contribute to the Trusts Duty Matron rota which includes out of hours working on site.

Person Specification
Experience
* Demonstrable experience of compassionate leadership
* Experience and specialist knowledge of Acute Maternity areas
* Evidence of change management or involvement in quality improvement
* Knowledge of current and emerging NHS strategy and policy
* Post graduate Midwifery experience as a Band 7, with leadership responsibilities
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Registered Midwife - with active NMC registration
* Masters level qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience
* Leadership qualification or relevant leadership experience
* Leadership skills such as recruitment and supporting staff
* Involvement in complaint handling and patient experience
* Experience in writing guidelines and patient care pathways, using research-based evidence
Skills and attributes
* Communicate effectively where language barriers exist and work to improve the service for those requiring a bespoke approach to care.
* Deal with, and support team members who face distressing and emotional situations with empathy, sensitivity and diplomacy.
* Communicate complex information effectively, clearly, and accurately in plain simple language, both verbally and in writing to a range of audiences.

Salary: £53,755 to £60,504 a year per annum/pro rata
