An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 RN to join our newly established Bures ward. This leadership role plays a vital part in supporting the Bures ward team manager in the seven-day coordination of highly skilled RNs and HCAs that will support patient care, including one to one enhanced observations across the Colchester hospital site as part of a 12-month pilot project.
Bures Ward will aim to play a pivotal role in supporting adult clinical areas and responding to operational demands, ensuring our wards and departments receive the support they need when they need it most. There is scope for this ward to grow following a successful pilot.
This role will involve providing specialist review of patients requiring enhanced therapeutic observations and coordinating its delivery (training will be provided).
We are looking for a highly professional individual currently working as a Band 6 who has excellent clinical and organisational ability with previous experience in managing staff and skill mix. The post holder will be key to implementing this exciting project including the training and development of the team.
You must have an ability to think flexibly and creatively. They should also have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to organise and prioritise staffing resources to manage clinical risk and knowledge and understanding of safer staffing and patient flow.
• Day to day coordination and deployment of Bures staff in collaboration with site team/Quality Matron.
• Providing pastoral support and care during each shift to Bures staff.
• Responding to and supporting the mitigation of staffing risk.
• Reviewing requests for one to one enhanced observations to ensure they are appropriate and deploying Bures staff accordingly (supported by the Safeguarding Team).
• Contributing to the quality agenda in relation to enhanced observations and patient safety and experience.
