About the Role This is an exceptional fixed-term opportunity to globally lead and develop our competitive and commercial intelligence capability within Tate & Lyle. We are looking for a highly talented Insights manager who can blend analytical know-how with commercial understanding to influence and inform current and future business decisions. Using a range of research (including relationships with external agency and industry bodies), data & analytics (including financial) and stakeholder knowledge, this role requires a candidate who can develop an outside-in view of the world. This candidate will be capable of delivering impactful insight of competitor and commercial strategy and activity that helps our people across all levels of the business better understand our operating environment and make more informed business decisions. The success of this role will not only be on verbal and written content, but the ability to influence and impact others in the business through influential partnerships and clarity of actions, that is, getting to the “so what”. About You You will have 8 years’ experience in analytics and comfort with using, modeling, interpreting and articulating insight from a range of qualitative and quantitative data, including financial data. You will also have commercial know-how, either having worked in a commercial role or from previous projects within a commercial space with B2B and/or B2C companies (or clients). You will be a clear, analytical thinker who sees opportunities that others may not and build that into a concise story that leads to decisions and action. You will be able to demonstrate an external focus, bringing the external world and opportunities to the table and an ability to connect it with business growth for our customers and Tate & Lyle. You will have an ability to operate independently, building stakeholder relationships across the business to proactively understand their challenges and adapt your output to answer their needs. You will be motivated and ambitious to create an impact in a short period of time, contributing to the broader impact of the Global Insights & Analytics team. Key Responsibilities Deliver on Stakeholders & Business Needs Build relationships with your stakeholders including, Platform Marketing, Product Managers, Pricing, Category Managers, Sales as well as Innovation and Commercial Development and Global Operations and respond to their needs via analysing, evaluating and assessing ingredient, market, competitor and customer intelligence to influence strategic direction and decision making Partner with our Market Insights & Analytics Platform Manager and Regional Insights Managers to provide global and regional market customer and competitor insights on ingredient market trends including, product portfolio, financial intel, pricing intel, market share, growth, acquisitions etc Insight into Action Build deep competitor insight including intimately understanding their strengths and weaknesses, product offering, pricing and strategy, commercial operations, customer priorities and develop competitor ‘gameboard’ simulations to understand impacts to the T&L business / brands / operational footprint etc Provide Global and Regional quarterly report about main competitor activities Provide input into augmented value propositions (AVP) that respond to or acknowledge competitor activity / positions that result in a proposition that is differentiated for Tate & Lye Provide competitive intelligence for ad-hoc projects such as M&A projects and other business requests Collaborate on pricing discussions, provide pricing insight data to support price strategies and tactics Knowledge Management Own the Competitor Knowledge Sharing platform and Benchmarking Platform of the global ingredient market, customers and competitors, ensuring content is regularly updated, engaging and being widely read and shared External Partner Management & Knowledge Gathering Manage relationships with existing external intelligence providers for market studies, benchmarks, and import/export data. Actively locate and join industry webinars and networking opportunities to continuously learn about the industry and competitor activity Establish contact and cooperation with consultants that could provide competitive intelligence Assess current supplier/consultants used for market & competitor intelligence to determine how to streamline and automate as appropriate, freeing up time to spend on value-added activities Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience required Knowledge & Analytics 8 years combined experience and expertise of market and competitive intelligence analytics and commercial know-how, ideally with a management consulting background or a similar competitor / commercial analytics industry role An ability to select correct data, harmonise data sources, build data models, analyze, evaluate, run simulations and make deductions for the business Proven analytical capability using market, financial and pricing data to find different ways to interrogate and explore the data to find the implications for Tate & Lyle Excellent excel, PowerBI (or similar), data visualisation and PowerPoint skills A strategic and tactical analytical capability, being able to switch between short term and longer-term competitor and customer implications for the business Data source management (including GlobalData, Mintel, IHS, Pitchbook, Import/Export statistics etc) Experience and exposure to issues/concerns of food and beverage manufacturers Strategic Communication Strong communication and written presentation skills, with the ability to craft a story, simplify complex data into simple to understand implications and the ‘so what’ for the audience Comfort with building relationships with and presenting to senior stakeholders and running webinars and training sessions Relationship Building & Stakeholder Management An ability to proactively build relationships across the business, including (but not limited to) Product Managers, Pricing, ICD, Global Operations, Marketing, Category Management as well as the regional counterparts Knowledge Management Skills Experience in building up a library or repository of information, creating engaging content including online posts and newsletters What you'll get As a business operating in 50 countries worldwide, we offer a global rewards package to all employees alongside a range of country-specific benefits: Flexible working policy Competitive salary Contributory pension Tate & Lyle is an equal opportunity employer, committed to the strength of an inclusive workforce.
