What You Will Do: You will work as part of the team to ensure that children, young people receiving short breaks and assessments in Conwy receive the appropriate levels and standards of care and support, that is based on helping children to live their life differently as they are living it day to day by involving them in matters and decisions that affect them, as well as supporting children and their families to remain together. As the Deputy Unit Manager, you will support the Residential Manager in the day to day management of a CIW registered assessment centre, leading the management and development of a Multi-Disciplinary Therapeutic team as part of the assessment and intervention centre. You will be expected to take a lead role in the development of personalised plans ‘for’ and ‘with’ children/young people, and in a manner that can be operationalised or actioned in moment-to-moment caregiving or support which meet the identified outcomes for individuals and clearly shows respect for the person’s autonomy, independence, personal values, and dignity. You will be expected to provide workforce development support and innovative practice opportunities to maximise the skills and resilience of the staff, in the delivery of a bespoke therapeutic service enabling children and young people to make sense of their world and their day to day experiences. What We Are Looking For: • You will hold a QCF Level 4 Professional Practice in Health and Social Care, Social Work or equivalent. • You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a children’s residential setting and substantial experience of working with children/families in a planned way • Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of the Children Act and Social Services & Wellbeing Act 2014 and the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016. • Experience of leading and supervising staff, acting as a positive role model to all team members in relation to conduct within the workplace and in their organisation, workload, performance, and creating and sustaining a safe, trusting, and engaging workplace culture • Be able to work creatively & innovatively with a residential staff team to achieve the best possible outcomes for children • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and guiding a staff team within an evidence-based model of care that includes attachment and trauma informed therapeutic approaches to support children to develop into healthy adults across all areas, including physical, emotional, psychological, and functional health. • Ability to manage challenging situations and to support the staff team to explore innovative strategies in dealing with emotional dysregulation • Ability to act as a role model for collaborative partnership working based on a good understanding of normative childhood development, traumatic stress, attachment, risk, and resilience, whilst ensuring compliance with the standards and delivery within a regulated service under RISCA and the SSWBA. Experience and expertise in promoting the children to participate in their own care planning, with family involvement where appropriate in the care planning for their children and build/sustain two-way relationships based on trust, openness, honesty, and respect within the boundaries of the role.
