PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
1. With new and exciting client mandates, our high performing Transactional Real Estate team is looking for supervising lawyer to join our expanding Leeds real estate practice.
2. The supervising lawyer role is not client facing and does not require the lawyer to have their own files/matters. Instead, the role is principally to supervise junior lawyers in the team (especially those in the 0-3 PQE band). This helps us by: ensuring that the supervising lawyer has the time to spend supervising properly, spending the extra time to explain points and rehearse arguments/approaches etc which can otherwise be rushed past;freeing up time of our senior lawyers; and
3. addressing feedback from junior lawyers hungry to learn more and have better quality supervision. The supervising lawyer provides supplemental supervision. They are not responsible for supervising matters from beginning to end and will typically be involved on an ad hoc basis, dipping in and out as required.
4. The role will suit someone with a strong track record of first-class commercial property experience, looking for a slightly different role (including those looking for a part-time role) and with an interest in developing others.
5. This will be appointment of second supervising lawyer for our team and such there will be a mini-team of two supervising lawyers which will help the successful candidate to assume the role.
6. We provide first-class, technical insight and training and are looking for an enthusiastic team member who wants to nurture the junior talent within our team, helping them tobecome well-rounded lawyers providing quality, commercial advice for our clients.

7. The Real Estate Group is one of Addleshaw Goddard's largest, comprising a team of nearly 200. In our Leeds office, the Transactional Real Estate team currently consists of 7 partners and 40+ other fee earners
8. The Leeds Transactional Real Estate Team is a Tier 1 ranked Team and won both the Yorkshire Property Insider Awards and the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards Real Estate Team of the year in 2023.
9. The team places a high emphasis on their transactional expertise and are able to bring a commercial and business-oriented approach to a wide range of property matters.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE:
10. You can expect to supervise lawyers working on a variety of market leading deals in commercial property work including landlord and tenant, property management, sales and purchases, development and working as member of some of the firm's principal client account teams.
11. In a supervisory capacity you will be part of the team who:
12. act for some of the foremost investors, developers and occupiers including for example Realty, Aviva, Abrdn, CBRE GI, Columbia Threadneedle, British Land, Travelodge, Asda, Primark, Caddick, Harworth, Muse, Maple Group Developments, BP,National Grid, Network Rail and various Local Authorities;work closely with existing clients to maintain and develop relationships, acting as a trusted advisor capable of providing timely and quality advice whilst managing expectations; andwork collaboratively as a cohesive team, to execute large-scale, high-value, client matters to the highest standard.
13. This is a high performing, cohesive and busy team with a strong reputation for providing associates with early levels of responsibility within a supportive and stretching environment.As a senior member of the team you will play a key role in shaping and driving the development of the team,.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
14. You will be a senior lawyer (ideally with at least 6 years of relevant experience) with a demonstrated track record of handling complex commercial real estate matters seeking a new challenge within the transactional real estate space.
15. You will be developing junior lawyers, sharing your experience, and with strong skills around an inclination for teaching, an enthusiasm for the law and willingness to unpack the legal first principles, including researching points where required.
16. Have enthusiasm, resilience, and ambition to help our lawyers develop the skills to: find solutions to clients' legal challenges and requirements;adopt a consultative and thorough approach to task;maintain efficient diary and task management across a range matters, ensuring the accuracy and levels of client service expected within a high performing team;beconfident in drafting clear and legally effective documents, which reflect the client's instruction; andremain calm and optimistic in time sensitive situations or under pressure
17. Be experienced in engaging with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
18. Be enthusiastic about the development of both your and the team's legal skill set and continuous learning.
19. Be inquisitive and want to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that we can foster a team vcuture which delivers our advice with quality, imagination, and impact.
