This role will be in the Gloucester and Forest of Dean area (West).
Leading your teams in delivering a culture of high-quality practice that achieves good outcomes for vulnerable children and young people, you will establish clear goals and expectations in line with priorities, provide challenging and supportive line management to ensure these are met, and hold your direct reports to account.
Reporting directly to the assistant director responsible for West Gloucestershire, you will play a key part in children’s services leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Line manage a number of managers across children and families’ teams.
2. Be accountable for the rigorous implementation of the children’s services practice framework and standards.
3. Support the quality assurance framework to monitor and review performance (both compliance and quality) and embed learning across the teams.
4. Take action to build on strengths and respond to areas for improvement.
5. Work with the other group managers and assistant director to ensure consistency of practice across all the teams; and develop teams that deliver relationship-based practice, timely assessments, skilled interventions and sustainable outcomes that support children remaining with their families wherever possible.
Key Requirements:
1. Educated to Degree level.
2. Relevant qualification in Social Work and Registration with Social Work England.
3. An excellent knowledge of children’s rights under the United Nations Convention for the Rights of a Child.
4. A detailed and applied knowledge of the legislative framework and statutory guidance relating to children’s social care.
5. An excellent understanding of the multi-factorial risks of harm to children arising from poverty, disadvantage, parental incapacity, toxic family dynamics and exploitation.
6. A proven track record in operational management that has led to positive and improved outcomes for children, young people and their families.
7. A proven track record of partnership working with other professionals, services and settings supporting children, young people and families.
8. Excellent skills of communicating verbally and in writing to different audiences, including formal reports.
