Description Overview The good news is that our continued success and business growth has opened an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised Health and Safety Manager with Facilities and Security experience to join two of our successful teams across Northampton. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this key role supports two sites by integrating effectively with the senior management teams onsite to ensure H&S standards & compliance is achieved and maintained through high levels of employee engagement and a strong health and safety culture. The successful candidate will play a lead role in the continuous improvement and demonstrate a strong safety culture for employees, visitors and contractors. This roles operational hours are mainly covered 08.30 - 16.30 with flexibility to see shift workers in a 24/7 operation. How will you contribute? Manage site Health & Safety in accordance with Wincanton’s Safety Health Environmental Procedures Ensure the site meets or exceeds the Health & Safety targets expected by Company / Client Manage and drive safety plans, including promoting a H&S first culture. Review and audit site training records and site training matrix Co-ordination of all site Health & Safety activities, including committees, training and communications to ensure the site remains compliant Assist/undertake risk assessments and create SSOWs as required. Using corporate IT systems to produce reports & support the delivery of Safety across the network. Ensure compliance when dealing with accident investigation and RIDDOR reports Support accident investigation and reporting to identify root cause and implementation of corrective action to prevent recurrence. Ensure all hazards, near misses, accidents and incidents are recorded correctly and escalated within a timely manner using the company safety database system. Work in line with Company Process and Audit requirement Define problems and devise effective solutions using rigorous logical and analytical tools Be pro-active in decision making based on analysis, experience, judgement and intuition Carry out site inspections to analyses what exists and what needs to be done, and arrange for appropriate actions to be taken Ensure compliance with Regulations by making frequent, unannounced physical inspections and by audits of the written documentation Hold Health & Safety meetings and oversee First Aiders on site, again acting in accordance to site compliance and current legislation Oversee safety for MHE operations and training Management of contractors on site i.e. permit to work To support the implementation and maintenance of Corporate SHEQ policies, procedures, and standards, to ensure legal compliance Serve as leads in analysing the facility infrastructure for deficiencies and inefficiencies To ensure successful management of the site maintenance service contracts To ensure facilities upkeep through regular planned, preventative maintenance (PPMs). Managing contractor activity as required (induction, supervision and evaluation). Management of large projects (including project inception and requirements) Responsible for racking maintenance and repair schedule What will you bring? NEBOSH general certificate (essential) Experience of working in a managerial position in a H&S Environment Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation Experience of promoting H&S first culture through employee engagement Self-motivated and self-disciplined Driven by continual improvement High standard of work and integrity Able to resolve multiple and/or complex issues while under pressure Ability to build strong and effective relationships with customers and colleagues by demonstrating a high level of integrity and professionalism What do we offer?
