The Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring the full and effective delivery of end-to-end payroll and benefits processing, along with associated reporting responsibilities.
Duties include:
1. Processing and managing Monthly payroll
2. Line Management responsibility for Payroll Officer
3. Prepare payroll reports and updates
4. Dealing with HMRC queries & RTI
5. Processing HMRC notifications
6. Processing SMP, SSP
7. Checking payroll for accuracy
8. Competent and knowledgeable with all aspects of pensions Auto enrolment procedures
9. Processing starters/leavers, P45/P46/P11d's
10. BACS processing
11. Annual year-end reporting requirements, including preparation of information for Gender Pay Gap reporting
12. Contribute to the continuous improvement of controls, processes, and procedures
13. Project work to include moving hourly paid workers from monthly pay to weekly pay
Skills Required:
1. CIPP qualified (or equivalent), and proven experience within payroll, with in-depth knowledge of UK payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
2. Experience within a similar multi-site environment; ideally within Food Manufacturing
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for handling complex payroll calculations, identifying discrepancies, reconciling reports, and proactively resolving issues.
4. Experience of managing payroll for hourly paid employees as well as monthly salaried employees across multiple sites.
5. Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively address enquiries and concerns.
6. Understanding of data protection regulations and confidentiality requirements in handling employee information.
7. Demonstrates integrity and honesty.
8. Experience in the continuous improvement of controls, processes, and procedures.
9. Experience in influencing cross-functional teams to deliver new processes.
