The service you will work in….

The Oremi Day Centre service delivers person-centered and holistic support to service users, aged over 18, who have a severe and/or enduring mental health need and living in Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This includes targeted services to service users from African, Caribbean and Arabic speaking heritage. Our service enables users to avoid, and in particular to reduce the need for, prolonged hospital admissions and long-term dependency on mental health services.

We promote recovery and prevent social exclusion among service users with mental health support needs and offer a wide range of group activities that are tailored to the service users' needs. Group activities are run by our in-house team of experienced and trained Group Facilitators, by sessional tutors and in co-production with service users. The overall aim of support provision is preventing hospital admissions and facilitating earlier discharge, promoting recovery, social inclusion and helping service users to maximise their independence and wellbeing, access to employment, training.

Activities at Oremi Centre include the Hearing Voices Group, the Social Group, Sewing Club, the walking Group, Yoga and mindfulness.

A day in this role looks like….
\n
As a Team Leader at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health and Complex Needs Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:
\n
\n
* To lead, motivate and empower the team to effectively deliver community based, person-centered and holistic support to service users who are of African and Caribbean descent.
\n
* Responding to complex casework queries and enquiries, attending meetings, building networks and partnerships across Hestia, RBKC, Westminster and beyond as appropriate.
\n
* To lead, develop, motivate, and support the team to meet cultural needs of service users, achieve the service objectives and deliver Hestia's vision.
\n
* Work closely with relevant stakeholders to design effective intervention and to build positive, mutually supportive assessment, review and case closure processes and working arrangements.
\n
* To take responsibility for recruitment, induction, and training of staff.
\n
* To provide regular and effective supervision to staff as per Hestia's policy.
\n
* To effectively utilise volunteers to enhance service delivery and work closely with Hestia volunteer team to recruit, induct and supervise volunteers.
\n
* To monitor staff performance and address in a timely manner.
\n
* To Develop and maintain a rolling program of user activities. Using data from needs assessments, consultations, and local/national recovery programs.
\n
* Ensure that all users have in place an up-to-date needs/risk assessment & support plan.
\n
* Ensure that all support and activities are aligned to increasing recovery and not dependent on the service.
\n
* To ensure that specific services and activities are provided to meet the needs of African, Caribbean, and Arabic speaking users.
\n
* To consult and involve users in all relevant aspects of service and organisational management within Hestia's service user involvement policies.
\n

* Experience of working with African, Caribbean, and Arabic speaking people with mental health care & support needs.

* Experience of implementing a co-production model of involvement with users meeting their cultural needs.

* Experience at using local mechanisms in place to gather users feedback and meaningfully involve them in service delivery.

* Experience of leading and managing a diverse team including experience of recruitment, induction, supervision, motivation, appraisal, training, and performance management.

* Ability & experience of performance monitoring to ensure consistently high service user standards.
\n
* Ability and experience of managing a service within budget.
\n
* Experience of providing high quality social care or day services; including compliance with health and safety.
\n
* Excellent knowledge of issues related to signs, symptoms, and treatments of mental illness; ability to assess service users declining mental health and take appropriate action.
\n
* Excellent knowledge of Housing, Community Care, Mental health, Health and Safety and welfare benefits legislation,
\n
* Ability to positively promote the organisation at external events, including delivering presentations and creating marketing material.
\n
* Experience of implementing and maintaining good Equality & Diversity practice.
\n
* Able to use computer systems to create accurate reports and able to assess and audit staff ability to use computer systems to record client data accurately and to a high standard.
\n
* Experience of writing & interpreting complex reports.
\n
