Job Summary
If you are looking for a new challenge, come and join the Endoscopy team where you will be providing quality care for patients across the whole endoscopy pathway including pre, peri, and post endoscopic procedural care.
Endoscopy is a constantly evolving area delivering a wide range of upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and part of the Dorset Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
You will need to be a hardworking and motivated team player, dedicated to delivering high standards of patient-centred care. Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to handle a physically demanding role. A flexible attitude is important, and you must demonstrate a strong commitment to your own personal and professional development.
The successful applicant will ideally have a minimum of 12 months experience in an acute setting. While previous endoscopy experience may be advantageous, it is not essential as we provide training and competency assessment.
The post holder will have an important role in this large and dynamic team that includes a team of Nurse Endoscopists, Gastroenterology Consultants, Colorectal/Upper Surgical Consultants, a number of senior doctors, and a large nursing and HCSW team.
You will need to be flexible to work a range of shifts.
Based at: Bournemouth Hospital (This post requires frequent cross-site working across Poole and Wimborne Hospital sites).
You will be required to be part of the on-call service which runs on weekends and bank holidays.

* Evidence/willingness to undertake training and qualification in Math's and English
* NVQ 3 (or willingness to undertake)
* HCSW care certificate
Desirable
* Care and maintenance of Olympus endoscopes.
Experience
Essential
* Experience of employment in a Healthcare setting as an HCSW.
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the concept of confidentiality.
Desirable
* Health-care related experience.
* Previous experience working in endoscopy.
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential
* Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate excellent verbal, listening, written, and telephone skills.
* Competent in/willingness to attend training for venepuncture and cannulation.
