The Recruitment Bunker are looking for skilled paint preparation technicians to join and build these sought after continuation cars at DRVN Automotive's centre for fabrication and paint excellence on Newton Aycliffe Business Park. The first of several models in our range, this limited run of 300bhp/800kg road and race cars are officially licensed by Ford making this a unique opportunity to work on an incredibly significant project in the rich history of the brand. Blending a motorsport proven powertrain with lightweight materials including carbon fibre and thoroughly modernised components to deliver exhilarating handling characteristics, we strive to deliver a “peak analogue” driving experience to our customers. The paint preparation technicians will be responsible for taking the “body in white” shells and panels created by our fabrication team and preparing them to receive a high-quality paint finish by one of our automotive painters. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and expertise in various paint prep techniques to ensure the definition and quality of the vehicle paint to an OEM standard. Responsibilities Company Policies: Manage and follow the quality, health, safety, and welfare policies of the company Preparing bare metal surfaces of vehicle shells, panels and parts to a high standard ready for paint Filler work, hand sanding and finishing Preparing equipment and materials ready for use Masking relevant areas of the vehicle prior to application Preparing each work piece and moving panels and materials to the appropriate area of the facility at the start and end of each task, loading and unloading booths Maintaining and cleaning equipment and working areas each day Observe all health and safety methods and regulations and correct use of all PPE Following instructions from the senior paint team Essential Skills Experience of working within a Paint Shop environment Understanding of the importance of prep to overall definition and paint finish of the final result Accurate masking ability with high level of attention to detail to ensure repeatable work to high precision A good working knowledge of industry best practice in paint technique and products Quality focussed approach with a pride taken in the end result and standard of each task undertaken Application and finishing of spray fillers and primers to a high standard Good eye for flattening and finish Be comfortable working on vehicles of high value Good attitude to teamwork, enthusiasm and the ability to take instruction Desirable Skills Experience in an automotive paint and body setting in a low volume classic/prestige environment Polishing skills and detailing Proven skills in hand finishing and detail filler work with good working knowledge of abrasives/consumables A good working knowledge of cars and vehicle assembly processes Please note we do not provide sponsorships to those who require it and will only accept applications from those who have full rights to work in the UK with no restrictions and IDLR/Full Settlement status.
