Mechanical Fitter

£22.25 - £24.73 ph
Duration: 6 Months initially. Potential for 3 years work.
40 Guaranteed hours a week; additional hours and shifts may be a possibility but not guaranteed.
Essential Experience:
1. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions.
2. Operating various workshop machinery specific to mechanical fitting.
3. Experience working in the marine engineering industry, particularly on Royal Navy ships, submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels, or large commercial ships. Relevant experience from other engineering sectors will also be considered.
4. Demonstrable experience of removing, installing, and overhauling marine mechanical equipment, focusing on propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, and power generation equipment.
5. Experience working in a marine engineering environment - Desirable.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter:
1. Completion of a time-served apprenticeship in marine or naval engineering.
2. An indentured apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline.
3. A Level-3 Modern Apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline.
4. A Level-3 Mechanical Engineering qualification.
