Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join their team in Bedfordshire. This role offers an excellent opportunity for you to utilise your financial management skills, with a focus on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes. With a competitive salary of £70,000, this position provides the chance to take ownership of all aspects of financial reporting within a dynamic and supportive environment.
What you'll do:
* Manage day-to-day operations of a small finance team
* Oversee all aspects of financial reporting including month-end, flash management accounts and monthly management accounts with variance analysis
* Develop and maintain controls and procedures for effective financial management
* Prepare cashflow forecasts with variance analysis
* Review payment runs and set up payment files within the bank
* Assist in meeting all statutory deadlines including managing the year-end audit process
* Work alongside non-finance teams providing robust challenge to any movements
* Assist in preparing monthly board packs, forecasts, and annual budget packs
* Participate in ad-hoc project work
What you bring:
* Proven experience in financial control or similar roles
* Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes
* Excellent leadership skills with experience managing a team
* Ability to develop and maintain financial controls and procedures
* Proficiency in preparing cashflow forecasts and conducting variance analysis
* Experience working with non-finance teams providing robust challenge
* Skill in preparing board packs, forecasts, and budget packs
