Substance Misuse Recovery Worker
LOCATION: Tunbridge Wells
SALARY: £13.20 Basic
DURATION: Temp, possibility of going perm
HOURS: 37.5hrs per week (Mon – Fri | 9am to 5pm | Every other Tuesday 11am – 7pm)
NOTE: WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP OR SUPPORT THOSE ON A SKILLED WORKER VISA.
Day-to-day duties:
1. Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey.
2. Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and onward referral.
3. Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community.
4. Promoting carer, service user and community involvement.
5. Providing advocacy for access to partnership services.
6. Working with service users to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives: promoting recovery, resilience, peer support and self-determination.
7. Act as main care coordinator overseeing assigned groups of service users, providing screening, asset mapping, comprehensive assessments, and recovery planning.
8. Carry out comprehensive service user assessments, including asset mapping of community resources and develop individual recovery plans that clearly identify how achieving each goal will enable progression in addressing substance use and re/integrating into the community.
9. Carry out risk assessments and risk management.
10. Triage assessment and onward referral to a range of treatment/community support agencies.
11. Work with prescribing clinicians to support substitute prescribing regimes to improve social functioning.
12. Provide health education especially in regard to harm minimisation, blood borne viruses and overdose prevention.
13. To carry out key harm reduction strategies such as running of the Needle Exchange and distribution of Naloxone, after completion of appropriate training or demonstration of relevant experience.
14. To assist and carry out appropriate screening processes including DBST, urine and saliva tests, after completion of appropriate training or demonstration of relevant experience.
Essentials:
1. DBS within the last 12 months (must have original copy).
2. Supported those with Substance Misuse issues.
