A manufacturing and production client of ours in the Witham area are recruiting a Buyer to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm. Paying around £35,000 per annum depending on experience.
Reporting into the MD, your key duties include but are not limited to:
1. Use systems to order products based on sales and forecasts, ensuring 100% availability, especially during seasonal or promotional periods, addressing any delivery issues with suppliers.
2. Monitor and reduce unavailability and wastage.
3. Approve and respond to invoicing queries, collaborating with suppliers and team leaders as needed.
4. Assist with end-of-week/month procedures, including supplier credit claims, and coordinate with departments to ensure timely availability of required information.
5. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams, escalating issues to management when necessary.
6. Procure materials for production, sales and service, ensuring optimal inventory levels and reschedule orders to meet changing demand.
7. Collaborate with various departments to forecast supplier requirements, manage safety stock and monitor supplier performance.
8. Manage production schedules based on customer orders and material availability, ensuring SAP accuracy and up-to-date product availability information.
9. Communicate plans and forecasts to stakeholders, provide updates and prepare relevant data for internal meetings.
10. Contribute to cost savings through project purchasing, monitor production data for quality control, and embrace continuous improvement.
11. Handle general administrative duties, including concessions, arch calculations, scanning, and shipment bookings.
Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Buyer position:
1. 3+ years Purchasing and Procurement experience ideally within a manufacturing environment.
2. Proficient in IT systems.
3. Experience of capacity/forecasting modelling and planning.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Numeracy, statistical and reporting skills with the ability to analyse data and trends.
6. Efficient under tight deadlines.
