We provide our research support and data curation services to the NHS for free, in order to support mental health provision, service improvement and improved patient outcomes across our network. Our Precision Neuroscience Initiative – GlobalMinds – is creating the UK’s largest biobank of patients with mental health conditions to transform research and alleviate disease burden in this area of critical unmet medical needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
We are seeking a Head of Product to lead the strategic direction, development, and delivery of our innovative data access and research platforms. This includes overseeing the creation of tools for fine-grained, record-level data access and analysis, and optimizing client onboarding processes through semi-automated solutions. The ideal candidate will blend strategic vision, technical expertise, and a customer-centric approach to drive the success of our product portfolio and shape our roadmap for long-term growth. This role will suit candidates with strong technical backgrounds in user-focused product design, who want to apply their skills to improving the lives of patients with mental health conditions.
Product Vision & Strategy
● Define the overall vision and roadmap for Akrivia’s suite of products and services, aligning with business objectives and customer needs.
● Prioritize feature development based on market research, user feedback, and company goals.
● Stay ahead of industry trends, particularly in data protection, healthcare, and research technologies, to maintain a competitive edge.
Leadership & Team Development
● Build and mentor a high-performing cross-functional product team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
● Partner with engineering, design, and operations teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions that exceed customer expectations.
● Act as a key stakeholder in hiring decisions, team expansion, and talent development.
Product Development & Technical Oversight
● Oversee the development of platforms supporting fine-grained data access and analysis, and seamless client onboarding.
● Ensure technical feasibility and realistic timelines for product delivery by working closely with engineering teams.
● Drive decision-making on technology adoption and implementation to enhance platform capabilities.
Data Protection & Compliance
● Ensure products comply with data protection laws such as GDPR, HIPAA, and other global standards.
● Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to embed privacy-preserving technologies into product design.
Client & Market Engagement
● Engage directly with clients to understand their challenges, refine the product offering, and build strong relationships.
● Develop processes to streamline client onboarding, enhancing scalability and customer satisfaction.
● Leverage market insights to shape product strategies and maintain a competitive position.
Stakeholder Communication
● Act as the primary product advocate, bridging technical teams and business stakeholders.
● Communicate product goals, progress, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and external partners.
Qualifications & Experience
Technical Expertise
● Proven track record in technical product management or similar roles, with experience leading product development in secure data platforms, APIs, or cloud-based infrastructure.
● Strong understanding of database technologies, fine-grained data access mechanisms, and scalable system architecture.
Strategic & Commercial Acumen
● Demonstrated ability to align product strategies with business goals and deliver measurable outcomes.
● Experience translating customer needs and market insights into actionable product initiatives.
Data Protection & Compliance
● Deep knowledge of GDPR, HIPAA, or equivalent data protection frameworks.
● Familiarity with privacy-preserving technologies and compliance best practices.
Leadership & Collaboration
● Experience managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
● Skilled in stakeholder management and communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience in the healthcare, life sciences, or research industries.
● Background in software engineering, technical architecture, or cloud computing.
